Are Vaccines Really Mandatory?

Are vaccines really mandatory? Medical and health officials often use scare tactics, skewed statistics and lies to intimidate wavering parents into vaccinating their children. Most high schools and colleges are now requiring students to be fully vaccinated as a prerequisite to admission. And even homeschoolers are required to show vaccination reports. The Federal government has considered denying welfare and nutritional benefits to families who refuse vaccinations.
However, all states (except Mississippi and West Virginia) provide waivers permitting parents to object to mandated vaccines based upon their religious or philosophical beliefs. A child may also be exempted if the parents can obtain a written statement from a doctor stating that the vaccine would be harmful to the child's health. There have been many cases, though, in which it is obvious that a child should not be vaccinated because of a precarious state of health, and yet doctors act mechanically and give them many shots at once! When the child dies as a result, doctors simply state that there was no link between the fatal event and the shots. So, who takes responsibility?

In spite of legal waivers, parents have been charged with child abuse for not vaccinating their children, and they were hustled into court with the threat of losing custody of their loved ones. Court officials, social workers, and even foster parents have tried to take matters into their own hands by forcing injections on the children. Ironically, parents have lost custody of their children and were accused of child abuse —"shaken baby syndrome"—when their babies had seizures or went into a coma following vaccinations.

Yet it is your legal right to refuse vaccinations for you or your kids. Some lawyers have suggested that if anybody is giving you a hard time (whether it be court officials, social workers, health professionals, or school administrators) you can ask them to sign a document stating they can assure you that vaccines are 100% safe and that there is no possibility of any adverse reaction. This, they claim, will scare them away! The reason being that nobody can say vaccines are 100% safe and nobody wants to take responsibility if anything happens to your child.

Instead of trying to convince or fighting with authorities, you can file a waiver based on your religious or philosophical beliefs, whichever is permitted by your state law (see list below). You can seek legal advice if you are unsure about how to do that (some lawyers are listed below). Many support organizations offer an example of how to write an exemption letter, or can help you with it. You should contact you local vaccine organization and also seek legal advice if authorities are unrelenting in their efforts to intimidate you.

"The right to claim exemption from immunization based on religious beliefs is available to all persons who hold religious beliefs against immunization regardless of what any state statute may say regarding the necessity for membership in any particular religious group or church. The first amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits states from discriminating between people based on their religious beliefs. If there is any state law that allows for exemption based on religious beliefs, it is available to all those people who hold religious beliefs against immunization even if their beliefs are personal and unique to them alone." (from James R. Filenbaum, Attorney at Law: ImmunizationAttorney.com)

Authorities also argue that parents should vaccinate their children to protect society as a whole from epidemics. But if the vaccines offered true immunity only the unvaccinated would become ill. Therefore, decisions that affect your child's health should not be forced upon you by so-called experts who are not even willing (nor able) to take responsibility for their actions.

For further information on vaccine regulations, call your State or County Health Department. Request a copy of the immunization laws. Or visit your regional law library. You can also purchase the exact laws of your state and a Sample Affidavit attesting to your opposition to the vaccines from New Atlantean Press (Phone #: 505-983-1856) or How To Legally Avoid Immunizations In All 50 States.

A State-by-State Summary of Vaccine Exemptions:

Medical Exemption:

All states permit a medical exemption to "mandatory" vaccinations when a medical doctor certifies that a vaccine is contraindicated for the individual. (Most doctors refuse to sign a medical waiver.)

Religious Exemption:

All states, except Mississippi and West Virginia, permit a religious exemption. However, some states are more strict than others regarding the precise requirements to exempt your children from the vaccines. Visit the National Vaccine Information Center's web site (NVIC) for specific state information.

Philosophical Exemption (or Conscientious Objection):

The following states are the least likely to harass parents who are opposed to vaccines for their children: AZ, CA, CO, ID, IN, LA, ME, MI, MN, NE, ND, OH, OK, UT, VT, WA, WI.
