Panchakarma is a specialized Ayurvedic procedure that requires proper guidance and supervision. It is done on a case-by-case basis with your unique individual constitution and state of health in mind. It requires close observation throughout the treatment, as well as appropriate preparation, supportive therapies, and specific therapeutic guidelines before, during, and after detoxification.
Everyone responds differently to Panchakarma and Panchakarma can be different each time, even if you have done it before, and this is also why it requires close supervision.
We have gathered general answers to Frequently Asked Questions about receiving Panchakarma at Blue Lotus Ayurveda, as well as the steps you need to follow to schedule a program. Don't hesitate to contact us if you still have any questions after reading this Panchakarma Info and FAQ page.

What Is Included in My Panchakarma Program?
Full Panchakarma Treatments include a pre Panchakarma consultation, daily therapies, medicated oils (used during therapies), food, and close supervision throughout your program. A special diet is followed during Panchakarma, so all meals are prepared for you everyday. In general, you'd eat after therapies and when you are hungry, so we make sure that you always have food ready when you need it.
What Therapies Are Done During My Panchakarma?
Along with Panchakarma detoxification therapies, done as needed during the program, your Panchakarma Program includes:
• Daily Abhyanga (Ayurvedic warm oil massage) with integrated Marma Chikitsa (Energy Point Therapy with attars and essential oils) by two therapists in synchronicity*;
• Bashpa Swedana (full herbal steam);
• Shirodhara (Bliss Therapy for mental rejuvenation);
• Udvartana (herbal scrub/dusting) or Lepa (herbal paste), followed by a warm shower (a localized Churna Swedana, or herbal bolus therapy may be added to your treatment, if needed);
• Daily freshly prepared meals.
Your daily program takes about 3 hours.
* Abhyanga is always performed by Vishnu Dass with the help of a female or male assistant. All other specialized Ayurvedic therapies are done by Vishnu Dass, and he closely supervises your program.
What Is Not Included in My Panchakarma Fee?
Herbs before and after Panchakarma are not included. Lodging fees are not included. Optional adjunct Ayurvedic therapies (such as Netra Basti, Hrud Basti, Nadi Swedana, etc.) are not included in your fee, but can be added to enhance your program, as per your request and specific needs. You can also add private yoga, cooking classes, and other services during your Panchakarma to get an enhanced experience, but all these require extra time and therefore are charged extra and need to be scheduled ahead of time.

Do You Provide Shorter Panchakarma Programs?
We consider that 5 days of Panchakarma is the minimum for deep detoxification and rejuvenation, especially if doing pre-oleation, because your system may become congested with toxins. However, we may be able to provide a different amount of days other than 5, 8, or 12, with 5 being the minimum. Please contact us to discuss your options, as we can only offer this on a case-by-case basis.
We have a Panchakarma Day Sampler and Ayurvedic Weekend Getaways, as well as other Ayurvedic Day Spa packages if you are not able to do a full Panchakarma Program at this time but would like to get a taste of what it is like, and to experience our excellent client focused care.
